Gummy smile
A gummy smile occurs when more of the gum is visible when smiling than a person would ideally like. There can be several reasons for this, including upper-lip movement, lip anatomy, tooth position and the relationship between the upper lip and gums.

Treatment Depends On The Cause — If excessive upper-lip elevation contributes to the appearance, carefully placed anti-wrinkle treatment may sometimes reduce the degree of elevation. However, this is not appropriate for every gummy smile.
